GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION TO UNIVERSITY OF MALAYSIA SABAH'S UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM
(OPERATED OUTSIDE UMS CENTER)

Eligibility requirements to enter Universiti Malaysia Sabah are subject to UMS Undergraduate Studies regulations.
Students who are selected to this University are through the following methods:

Candidates should:
Pass the Malaysian High School Certificate (STPM) or; Pass the Matriculation Certificate of the Ministry of Education Malaysia or; Passed a Diploma / Certificate in a field related to other IPTA-IPTA or Pass the APEL Assessment from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and Take the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) Application for admission to the UMS External Studies Program (PLUMS) for each intake is through a Form that can be downloaded from the PLUMS official website which is http://plums. ums.edu.my

(1) STPM MINIMUM GRADUATION QUALIFICATIONS / EQUIVALENT General University Requirements Pass the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) / Equivalent to having obtained honors in the subject of Malay / Bahasa Malaysia or honors in Malay / Bahasa Malaysia July Paper and Pass the Malaysian High School Certificate Examination (STPM) ) by getting at least CGPA 2.00 and getting at least: Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in General Studies subjects and Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in two (2) other subjects and Obtaining at least Level 2 (Band 2 ) in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET). OR;

(2) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR GRADUATION OF KPM / UM SCIENCE FOUNDATION / UiTM SCIENCE FOUNDATION General University Requirements Passed the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) / Equivalent to having obtained honors in the main subject Malay / Bahasa Malaysia or honors Malay / Bahasa Malaysia July Paper and Passed Matriculation of KPM / Asasi Sains UM / Asasi UiTM with at least a CGPA of 2.00; and Get at least Level 2 (Band 2) in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET). OR;

(3) MINIMUM QUALIFICATION OF DIPLOMA GRADUATION / EQUIVALENT University General Requirements Pass the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) / Equivalent with honors in the general subject of Malay / Bahasa Malaysia or honors Malay / Bahasa Malaysia July Paper and Possess a Diploma or other qualifications recognized as equivalent by the Malaysian Government and approved by the University Senate; or Passed the Malaysian Higher School Certificate Examination (STPM) in 2012 or earlier with at least CGPA 2.00 and Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in three (3) subjects including General Studies; or Passed the Matriculation Examination in 2012 or earlier with at least a CGPA of 2.00; or Passed the Malaysian Higher Religious Certificate Examination (STAM) in 2011 or earlier with at least Jayyid Rank; and Get at least Level 2 (Band 2) in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) OR;

(4) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO USE APPEL ACCREDITATION OF PRIOR EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING (ACCREDITATION OF PRIOR EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING - APEL) APEL is defined as a systematic process that involves the identification, documentation and evaluation of learning based on prior experience. Therefore, in general, the APEL process involves an experience-based learning assessment. This learning can be obtained through various methods including formal schooling, life and work experience, training, independent study, voluntary work, hobbies and others. Examples of learning based on previous experience include knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired through: work experience: full-time, part-time or part-time; voluntary and community work; family responsibilities; hobbies or leisure activities; train and mentor others; attend and participate in seminars, conferences and workshops; attending short-term courses; fluency in other languages; private study and research; and any other life experiences. APEL was created to provide an 'alternative' entry path for those who do not have formal qualifications to continue their studies to a higher level. It encourages an individual to continuously improve their knowledge leading to a certificate of qualification. This will further provide opportunities for individuals to get better jobs. Applications for APEL assessment must be made by individuals (learners). If you are interested in entering a Bachelor's Degree program through APEL you must be: Malaysian citizen; Exceeding the basic eligibility requirements set by the Ministry of Higher Education, which is 21 years of age or older in the year the application is made; and iii. Pass the assessment that will be conducted by MQA through Portfolio assessment and Aptitude Test. FACULTY OF BUSINESS, ECONOMICS AND ACCOUNTING HE06 – FINANCIAL AND BANKING MANAGEMENT Special Program Requirements STPM qualification candidates must meet the General requirements and; get at least Grade C (NMGP 2.00) in Business Studies/Economics/Accounting/Mathematics (M); AND get at least a Pass (Grade E/8E) at the SPM level in Mathematics. Diploma Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; have a Diploma in the applied field from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah AND get at least a Pass (Grade E/8E) at the SPM level in Mathematics. Candidates for Diploma and STPM qualifications are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 2 in MUET subjects. HE10 - MARKETING Special Program Requirements STPM qualification candidates must meet the General requirements and; get at least Grade C (NMGP 2.00) in Business Studies/Economics/Mathematics (M); AND get at least a Pass (Grade E/8E) at the SPM level in Mathematics. Diploma Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; have a Diploma in the applied field from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah AND get at least a Pass (Grade E/8E) at the SPM level in Mathematics. Diploma and STPM Qualification Candidates are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 2 in MUET subjects. HE11 – HUMAN RESOURCES ECONOMICS Special Program Requirements STPM qualification candidates must meet the General requirements and; get at least Grade C (NMGP 2.00) in Business Studies/Economics; AND get at least a Pass (Grade E/8E) at the SPM level in Basic Mathematics/Economics subjects. Diploma Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; have a Diploma in the applied field from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah AND get at least a Pass (Grade E/8E) at the SPM level in Mathematics. Candidates for Diploma and STPM qualifications are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 2 in MUET subjects. HE05 – PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT ECONOMICS Special Program Requirements STPM qualification candidates must meet the General requirements and; get at least Grade C (NMGP 2.00) in Business Studies/Economics; AND get at least a Pass (Grade E/8E) at the SPM level in Basic Mathematics/Economics subjects. Diploma Eligibility Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; have a Diploma in the applied field from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah AND get at least a Pass (Grade E/8E) at the SPM level in Mathematics. Diploma and STPM Qualification Candidates are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 2 in MUET subjects.

HE07 – FINANCIAL ECONOMICS Special Program Requirements STPM qualification candidates must meet the General requirements and; get at least Grade C (NMGP 2.00) in Business Studies/Economics/Mathematics (M); AND get at least a Pass (Grade E/8E) at the SPM level in Mathematics. Diploma Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; have a Diploma in the applied field from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah AND get at least a Pass (Grade E/8E) at the SPM level in Mathematics. Diploma and STPM Qualification Candidates are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 2 in MUET subjects.

FACULTY OF PSYCHOLOGY AND EDUCATION HA13 – INDUSTRIAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY Special Program Requirements STPM Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; get at least CGPA 2.50 at STPM level; AND obtained at least Honors (Grade C/6C) at SPM level in Mathematics/Additional Mathematics/Science/Biology/Chemistry/Physics/English. Diploma Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; have a Diploma in Psychology / Counseling / Social Work from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah with at least a GPA of 3.00 AND at least an Honors (Grade C/6C) at the SPM level in Mathematics/Additional Mathematics/ Science/Biology/Chemistry/Physics/English. Diploma and STPM Qualification Candidates are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 2 in MUET subjects. Candidates are not visually impaired (blind / nearsighted). Pass the eligibility test set by the Faculty.

HA19 – COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY Special Conditions Program STPM Qualification Candidates must meet the General Conditions and; get at least CGPA 2.50 at STPM level; AND obtained at least Honors (Grade C/6C) at SPM level in Mathematics/Mathematics subjects Additional/Science/Biology/Chemistry/Physics/English. Diploma Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; have a Diploma in Psychology / Counseling / Social Work from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah with at least a GPA of 3.00 AND at least an Honors (Grade C/6C) at the SPM level in Mathematics/Additional Mathematics/ Science/Biology/Chemistry/Physics/English. Diploma and STPM Qualification Candidates are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 2 in MUET subjects. Candidates are not visually impaired (blind / nearsighted) and do not stutter. Pass the eligibility test set by the Faculty.

HT19 – CHILDREN'S EARLY EDUCATION Special Requirements Program STPM Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; get at least CGPA 2.50 at STPM level. Diploma Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; have a relevant Diploma from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah with at least a CGPA of 3.00 AND at least an Honors (Grade C/6C) at SPM level in Mathematics/Additional Mathematics/Science/Biology/Chemistry/ Physics/English. Diploma and STPM Qualification Candidates are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 2 in MUET subjects. Pass the eligibility test set by the Faculty. Special Note: Recruitment for HT19 is an open market, NOT intended to be appointed as an Education Service Officer (Teacher) under the Malaysian Ministry of Education (KPM). FACULTY OF HUMANITIES, ARTS AND HERITAGE HA24 – HISTORY Special Program Requirements For the application of STPM qualification candidates must meet the General Requirements and; get at least Grade C (NMGP 3.00) in the subject of History. Diploma Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; have a relevant Diploma from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah. Candidates for Diploma and STPM qualifications are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 2 in MUET subjects.

HA02 – COMMUNICATION Special Program Requirements For STPM qualification candidate applications must meet the General Requirements and; get at least Grade C (NMGP 2.00) in three (3) subjects including General Studies. Diploma Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; have a relevant Diploma from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah. Diploma and STPM Qualification Candidates are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 2 in MUET subjects.

FACULTY OF COMPUTING AND INFORMATICS HC00 – SOFTWARE ENGINEERING Special Program Requirements STPM Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; get at least Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in Mathematics (T); OR obtained at least Honors (Grade C+/5C) in Additional Mathematics subjects. Diploma Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; have a diploma in the field of Computer Science OR Software Engineering OR Information Technology OR Information Systems OR Science and Technology or the equivalent from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah with at least a CGPA of 2.50; AND get at least Grade C+ (NGMP 2.33) at Diploma level in Mathematics subjects; OR get at least Honors (Grade C+/5C) at SPM level in Additional Mathematics subjects. Candidates for Diploma and STPM qualifications are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 2 in MUET subjects. HC12 – MULTIMEDIA TECHNOLOGY Special Program Requirements STPM Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; get at least Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in Mathematics (T); OR obtained at least Honors (Grade C+/5C) in Mathematics subject. Diploma Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; have a diploma in the field of Computer Science OR Software Engineering OR Information Technology OR Information Systems OR Science and Technology or the equivalent from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah with at least a CGPA of 2.50; AND get at least Grade C+ (NGMP 2.33) at Diploma level in Mathematics subjects; OR get at least Honors (Grade C+/5C) at SPM level in Mathematics. Diploma and STPM Qualification Candidates are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 2 in MUET subjects.

HC13 – BUSINESS COMPUTER Special Program Requirements STPM Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; get at least Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in Mathematics (T); OR obtained at least Honors (Grade C+/5C) in Mathematics subject. Diploma Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; have a diploma in the field of Computer Science OR Software Engineering OR Information Technology OR Information Systems OR Science and Technology or the equivalent from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah with at least a CGPA of 2.50; AND get at least Grade C+ (NGMP 2.33) at Diploma level in Mathematics subjects; OR get at least Honors (Grade C+/5C) at SPM level in Mathematics. Diploma and STPM Qualification Candidates are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 2 in MUET subjects.

FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND NATURAL RESOURCES HS11 – ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES Special Program Requirements STPM qualification candidates must meet the General Requirements and; get at least Grade C+ (NGMP 2.33) in the subject of Chemistry; AND get at least Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in Biology/Mathematics (T). Diploma Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; have a Diploma in Science or equivalent from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah; AND got Grade C+ (NGMP 2.33) at Diploma level in Chemistry subject; AND got Grade C (NGMP 2.00) at Diploma level in Biology/Mathematics subjects. Diploma and STPM Qualification Candidates are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 2 in MUET subjects. Students are from the Science stream currently at the SPM level.

LABUAN FACULTY OF INTERNATIONAL FINANCE HE21 – INTERNATIONAL MARKETING Special Program Requirements STPM qualification candidates must meet the General Requirements and; get at least Grade B- (NGMP 2.67) in Economics/Accounting/Business Studies; AND obtained at least Honors (Grade C/6C) at SPM level in Mathematics/English subjects. DIPLOMA qualification candidates must meet the General Requirements and; possess a Diploma in any field related to Business, Finance, Marketing, Economics, Banking, Management and Accounting from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah; AND obtained at least Honors (Grade C/6C) at SPM level in Mathematics/English subjects. Diploma and STPM Qualification Candidates are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 3 in MUET subjects.

HE23 – ISLAMIC FINANCE Program Special Conditions STPM qualification candidates must meet the General Conditions and; get at least Grade B- (NGMP 2.67) in Economics/Accounting/Business Studies; AND obtained at least Honors (Grade C/6C) at SPM level in Mathematics/English subjects. DIPLOMA qualification candidates must meet the General Requirements and; possess a Diploma in any field related to Business, Finance, Marketing, Economics, Banking, Management and Accounting from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah; AND obtained at least Honors (Grade C/6C) at SPM level in Mathematics/English subjects. Diploma and STPM Qualification Candidates are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 3 in MUET subjects.

FACULTY OF SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE HG36 – LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION Special Program Requirements STPM qualification candidates must meet the General Requirements and; get at least Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics (M)/Mathematics (T)/Additional Mathematics; AND obtained at least Honors (Grade C/6C) at SPM level in Biology/Agricultural Science/Science subjects. Diploma Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; have a Diploma in Science and equivalent from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah with a GPA of at least 2.30. Preference is given to candidates with a Diploma in Agriculture, Diploma in Farm Management, Diploma in Animal Health, Diploma in Agribusiness, Diploma in Agricultural Engineering and Diploma in Science; AND obtained at least Honors (Grade C/6C) at SPM level in Biology/Chemistry/Additional Mathematics/Agricultural Science or obtained at least Grade C at Diploma level in Biology/Chemistry/Plant Science/Animal Science. Diploma and STPM Qualification Candidates are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 2 in MUET subjects.

HG34 – CROP PRODUCTION Special Program Conditions STPM qualification candidates must meet the General Conditions and; get at least Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics (M)/Mathematics (T)/Additional Mathematics; AND obtained at least Honors (Grade C/6C) at SPM level in Biology/Agricultural Science/Science subjects. Diploma Qualification Candidates must meet the General Requirements and; have a Diploma in Science and equivalent from an Educational Institution recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah with a GPA of at least 2.30. Preference is given to candidates with a Diploma in Agriculture, Diploma in Farm Management, Diploma in Animal Health, Diploma in Agribusiness, Diploma in Agricultural Engineering and Diploma in Science; AND obtained at least Honors (Grade C/6C) at SPM level in Biology/Chemistry/Additional Mathematics/Agricultural Science or obtained at least Grade C at Diploma level in Biology/Chemistry/Plant Science/Animal Science. Diploma and STPM Qualification Candidates are required to submit MUET results and obtain at least Band 2 in MUET subjects.
